Care and Support

The Royal British Legion Women's Section has been providing care and support to the ex-Service community for 85 years. In the UK alone it is estimated that 11 million people of all ages and backgrounds are eligible for support from the Legion, including ex-Service men and women, Families and Dependants.  To be eligible for help, you must have served in the Forces for at least 7 days, or be the dependant of someone who has served.
It really is that simple.

The Women's Section offers a comprehensive welfare programme, benefits and other services for all those who qualify for its support, including

  • Welfare Breaks and Respite Care.
  • Educational Grants and Sponsorship
  • Financial support, including annuities, and help with TV licences
  • Support for ex-Service families with a disabled adult or child
  • National network of trained Caseworkers
  • A special fund for dependant children, to assist with school uniforms, sports equipment and other requirements.

The Legion helps many serving and ex-Service men, women and their dependants overcome severe problems and appalling injustice.

The 2006 Poppy Appeal was launched at 10am on 25th October
by the popular Welsh singer
Katherine Jenkins.
To mark the event, she wore a dress made out of 2,500 poppies,
designed by two photography students who were inspired by the theme of Remembrance.
