The Action Research Touching Lives campaign, launched in March 2000,
has concentrated on quite literally "Retouching the lives" of everyone by
stressing the importance of fund-raising for the various projects to support vital medical
research. It looks set to achieve its aim to raise £1.5 million and is carrying the
campaign on into 2001.
The Local Broughton Branch has been again raising funds to help
this worthwhile charity. They held two coffee mornings in April and December 2000 at the
Parish Rooms in the Market Place in the nearby town of Kettering. They also provided the
refreshments at the Rural Fayre of the Firkin Folly (Not the Broughton Day Gala) in July
2000. Although it was a very cold day, and probably not as well attended as the actual
Gala Day on the Sunday afternoon, they raised £215 and enjoyed the day.
The Members have once again been asked to serve refreshments in the
forthcoming " Not the Broughton Gala Day 2001" and they welcome the opportunity
to prepare their ploughman's, hot dog, cream teas etc. and anticipate a really good day. To
support the Members of The Broughton Branch of Action Research then go along to the
Village Hall, where there will be a variety of food on offer to sustain you on the Not the
Broughton Gala Day 2001. Date to be announced, Keep checking this Webpage or the Events
Page for further information.
Action Research is looking forward to another successful year and will be
busy making Preparations for their 50th Anniversary in 2002. Your support is really
appreciated and very needed. Every penny is a step nearer to the prevention, treatment and
alleviation of diseases which can affects us all.
